Forget "RON PAUL", allow me to be the first to say it.
This is not about one man nor is it about what we perceive as a contest for "the leader of our free country." It's about you, the individual, standing up for YOUR RIGHTS because no one else has been doing a very good job of it lately, have they?
We shall not trade our personal liberty for the pseudo-security and protection of our government. The equation is more similar to "bigger government = less freedom." Something must be done to make that point heard. We need a smaller government, which means much less spending and more freedom.
Is this march going to solve that? Not probably, however, I do believe it is the first step in taking the stand necessary to making our voices heard and creating a real progress towards change. Masses of "civilians" standing together in protest for change do create awareness and fear in those they appose.

10:22PM - Help?!!
alright so I just got through finals and even though I've yet to tie up those loose ends, I have to embark on a moving mission this weekend! It wasn't until tonight that I had any idea of where I might be moving and I still will not know for sure until Friday night!
Either way, it's just myself and my mom who can't help much because she's about 62 y/o. SO! I would *REALLLLLLY* love some help! pleasepleaseplease
If anyone is available this Saturday and/or Sunday, to come through and push boxes, I know it would get done rather quickly. Within 1-2 hours, tops!, if we had 2-3 others to help...
Any volunteers? I will remember you for this.. as well as do my best to reimburse you for your efforts. Like brownies and beverages...maybe sum vodka? lol, sorry I'm too poor for much else!
Thanks in advance... :)

I'm just posting because Im exploring housing options for the summer. I'm looking two move into a three bedroom apartment or house (or two bedroom place if we can convert the living room/den into a bedroom) in walking distance to MCAD. I've been checking craigslist and newspapers and other online places pretty much daily but I thought someone might know of something that isnt listed. We're interested in paying 300-350 each. Thanks!!

hello. i was planning on applying for the fall 2008 semester sometime in the next few months, but a friend's mother told me that she has a friend that works there (she didnt mention a name, unfortunately) and said to me that this guy told her that mcad admissions have been putting potential students on a two-year waitinglist, only making exceptions for the especially talented. i wanted to know if any of you have heard anything about this? i contacted the admissions offices via email, but thus far, there's been no response. any help would be very much appreciated.

Hi Everyone! I'm going to apply for MCAD either for the Spring 2008 semester or for Fall 2008 matriculation and I had a question about the merit based scholarships. Do you know from past winners experience what the judgement criteria is for the incoming student merit based scholarships? I know it says the strength of the applicant in relation to the applicant pool, but does anyone have any advice?
I guess the reason I'm asking is, I would be coming in as a 2nd degree undergraduate student for graphic design (I already finished up my Bachelor's at UCLA) and I'm working full time. So I'm wondering if it's worth quitting my job to start school as soon as possible or should I wait it out and try for a scholarship since I'm not elligible for any grants. Anyone else have a similar experience? Thanks guys! I'm really excited about the possibility of moving to Minneapolis from Los Angeles. :)

6:07PM - Bad Neighbourhood!
Hello - I notice many of you are looking for housing, and several seem to want housing close to the grad studios. I'm a current grad student and want to warn you about the neighbourhood. As you may or may not know, one of the grad students was recently murdered in her apartment on the 24-2500 block of 1st Ave.. There has also been a recent spike in muggings and robberies in the area close to campus and close to the graduate studios. If you haven't rented yet, don't rent here! MCAD has not been very forthcoming about the area to incoming students.

PRINCE! I LOVE Prince!
Prince was my very first arena show, seven years ago (ironically) when I
was about 15 and yesterday I saw him rock the stage again! It was his
first return to First Avenue in 20 years, I’m 22 years old now and I was
fortunate enough to be singing and dancing along with people from all over
the world and coming from all sorts of other backgrounds at this show!
It was truly amazing and SHOULD NEVER HAVE BEEN SHUT DOWN.
The Minneapolis Police Department is the biggest gang in the TC. it
disgusts me. The fact that they shut Prince down before he was finished is
NOT the only thing I have against them. I work for a club downtown on 5th
st and Hennepin ave. I witness on a weekly basis the injustice the MPD
imposes upon our ethnic citizens. It’s repulsive.
I’ve said for a long time that it’s something the news SHOULD be covering
and attempting to help put a stop to. Especially sickening is the way
black people are treated on Sunday nights just around the corner from our
club. It should not be tolerated! MPD just uses that night, which caters
to "ghetto hip hop types" as a racist field day, they use excessive force
in controlling a crowd which in no way requires police control. It's as
though they're glad to flex their muscles in this way and the people can
do nothing except cover their mouths and escape to their cars.
They use mace unprovoked as well as tazers. They run into large crowds on
their horses in a way I would never witness them doing on a Friday night,
where the crowd is typically white & suburban.
Something should be done… Something NEEDS to be done.
One might further wonder “if the performer wasn’t black, in the case of
Prince, if they would have allowed their show to continue.”
Prince is the man, there was nothing arrogant or inconsiderate about him
going on stage at the time he did. I waited from 4 am to past 4 pm to get
my ticket and I’d do it all over again for the same experience. I did not
get any sleep the entire weekend, between my two jobs, waiting for tickets
and the show, until Sunday at 6:00 am when I fell asleep in my bath tub.
However, I didn’t feel jipped what so ever, at any point during my whole
experience, UNTIL THE COPS SHUT THE SHOW DOWN. It’s ignorant of them to
assume Prince was being “arrogant” to go on stage so late. It is a further
shame on the city to shut down such a legendary show, played by such an
amazing artist to whom they owe so much respect that was clearly not paid
But I will rein in my anger and OVERALL disgust at our despicable
“authorities” owing to the words spoken by Prince himself, he will be back
Thanks for your time and hearing me out!

Hey guys, I recently heard from my new roommate about our apartment (of which I was sent no information about directly =/) and it's the 2550 building. It's a one bedroom apt, and the layout on the website seems nice. What's the scoop on the building? Nice inside? I'm trying to figure out how much room we'll have for certain furniture.

Everybody get their schedules yet? I think I can get excited about everything except for "Professional Writing." But when do we get our MCAD emails? I thought they'd come with the schedule stuff but I guess I was wrong. Also, how big is the average incoming class of freshmen in the BS program? How large is the program in general?

i'm an incoming grad student at MCAD potentially looking for a fellow grad student (incoming or already) as roomate. Friends have connected me to a nice building where a number of artists live. the apartment is apparently a huge two bedroom for 1050, including heat and water, very convenient to everything...opens August 1st.
i'm arriving from Michigan and will be in minneapolist June 27 thru July 1st looking to sign a lease--either this apartment or some other place...let me know if you'd be interested in meeting, email me at email@example.com and we can talk from there...
best of the best,
